Tangram Ten // Karlie Poindexter

Please join us in welcoming Karlie Poindexter to Tangram! Karlie is joining the team as a Customer Service Representative. She brings previous experience from a construction company where she handled several roles, from office management to HR. With her upbeat personality, it comes as no surprise that Karlie gravitates towards sunny beaches, whether it’s at her home in Long Beach or on a cruise headed to Cancún. She challenges her mind and body through sports, but also appreciates the simple joys in life, i.e. PB&J. Karlie’s resourcefulness and can-do attitude will be great assets when it comes to problem solving with the team. Welcome, Karlie, we’re so happy to have you!

1. Name, title?

Karlie Poindexter, Customer Service Representative

2. Where is your hometown?

I was born and raised in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. I currently live in Long Beach’s, Belmont Shores.

3. What type of company did you work at previously and what was your role there?

I worked for a small construction company called Forthright Construction, Inc. and I wore many hats—including hard hats. I was their office manager, bookkeeper, tool courier, HR department, etc.

4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you do?

I’d rent a cruise liner, fill all the cabins with friends, family, and a particularly good D.J., and head straight to Mexico for the week. Cancún anyone?

5. If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?

I’d be a Vulpes vulpes –a red fox. Foxes are curious and creative, but it’s the red fox’s resourcefulness that has earned it a legendary reputation for intelligence and craftiness. Like the red fox, I too live in a small, cozy environment (small studio) and our dens are usually organized and neat (most of the time). Also like the fox, who is an omnivorous hunter and is in good physical shape, I enjoy sports that challenge both my mind and body. If you put a fox in the workplace, it would be successful because of its competitiveness and ambition.

6. If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life I’d probably go with the PB&J, because it has so much versatility. Eating one thing forever would get tedious very quickly. So, I’m thinking PB&J’s: with bananas, with honey, with whole fruit…not to mention the variety of jelly, jam, marmalade, preserves, and fruit spread. Now, you may think that jelly is just jelly—think again. Just ask me, the future-lifetime-PB&J-connoisseur. Side note: It’s a good thing I like sports and have a good dentist, with all that sugar consumption—yikes!

7. What are you most looking forward to in your new role at Tangram?

Much like the name of the company, “a Chinese geometric puzzle consisting of pieces that can be arranged to make various other shapes,” I’m most looking forward to the problem solving. I’m excited to put my resourcefulness and creativity to the test.

8. What was your dream job growing up?

When I was young I wanted to be a lawyer because I liked the idea of being someone’s advocate and helping them argue their point. Again, I liked the idea of using my problem solving skills and craftiness, to support people who don’t have a strong voice.

9. Which emoji do you use the most?

I definitely use the sunshine emoji the most because I am a peppy morning person, and tend to text people as soon I’m up or out of the gym with a, “good morning ☀”

10. What do you hope to bring to the Tangram team?

I feel that I’m an intuitive person with a positive outlook, and I’m excited to bring my, “don’t-panic-we-can-do-this” attitude to the team.
