For over six decades, Blair, Church & Flynn has built a reputation as a nationally recognized consulting group specializing in safe, sustainable infrastructure solutions. With offices spanning from Anaheim to Las Vegas, their Clovis location had become a victim of its own success. The growing team of engineers and consultants had simply outgrown their existing space, creating the need for a second Clovis office that could accommodate their expanding operations.
The challenge extended beyond mere square footage. Their previous offices relied on traditional large workstations scattered throughout the space, a setup that no longer matched how their multidisciplinary teams actually worked. BCF needed a workspace that could adapt to the varied nature of infrastructure consulting, where engineers might shift from collaborative design sessions to detailed technical work to client presentations all within a single day. They envisioned an office that would set a new standard for their organization while supporting the diverse work styles of their growing team.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram partnered closely with Blair, Church & Flynn to completely reimagine their approach to workspace design. Rather than simply replicating their existing office model, we focused on understanding how their engineers and consultants truly worked throughout their day. This discovery process revealed the need for flexibility above all else, leading us to abandon the traditional large workstation model in favor of smaller, more adaptive configurations.
Our design solution centered on creating an ecosystem of spaces that could seamlessly support multiple work modes. We specified height-adjustable workstations that allow each team member to customize their environment for comfort and productivity, while strategically positioning collaboration zones and quiet focus areas throughout the 5,000-square-foot space. The furniture selection drew from premier manufacturers including Steelcase, Coalesse, West Elm, Blu Dot, and National, creating a cohesive yet dynamic environment. Beyond furniture, Tangram provided comprehensive interior finishes including custom millwork, flooring, paint specifications, and lighting design to create a space that truly reflected BCF's innovative approach to infrastructure consulting.
