The Challenge

Understanding what drives the need for change

When the City of Lewisville broke ground on their new Tittle McFadden Public Safety Center, they knew they were building more than just another municipal facility. This 116,000 square-foot complex would become the nerve center for protecting over 100,000 residents, housing both the Police Department and Fire Station #1 under one roof. The challenge extended far beyond typical office furniture needs.

The city's existing decades-old facilities had served their purpose, but modern public safety demands required a complete rethinking of how these critical spaces function. With over 100 employees working around the clock in high-stress environments, every piece of furniture needed to withstand the rigorous demands of emergency response while supporting the complex workflows of contemporary law enforcement and fire services. The spaces needed to transition seamlessly from routine administrative work to crisis coordination, all while maintaining the professional appearance befitting a modern public safety headquarters.

Our Approach

How we brought the vision to life

Tangram partnered with BRW Architects and specialized consultants Peak Program Value and 720 Designs to create furniture solutions that could match the intensity of public safety work. Understanding that these weren't typical office workers, our team prioritized durability without sacrificing functionality. Every selection, from laminate finishes to seating mechanisms, was evaluated for its ability to endure the unique demands of 24/7 operations and emergency response scenarios.

The crown jewel of the installation became the custom Emergency Operations Center table, engineered specifically for crisis coordination. This isn't simply conference room furniture—it's a command center designed to support multiple computer configurations, monitors, and communication systems that keep the city connected during critical moments. Throughout the facility, height-adjustable workstations provide ergonomic support for staff who might spend long hours monitoring situations, while robust materials ensure that everything from interview rooms to sleep quarters can withstand years of heavy use while maintaining their professional appearance.
