Confidential Behavioral Health Client
A warm and welcoming space that supports healing and connection
Understanding what drives the need for change
For over a century, this confidential pediatric healthcare provider has dedicated itself to improving children's lives through cutting-edge treatments and world-renowned medical care. As one of North Texas's leading pediatric health systems, they built their reputation not only on medical excellence but on creating environments that feel like home for families during challenging times. Their new Dallas facility would house multiple behavioral health programs, including autism care, requiring spaces that could serve the unique needs of children and families navigating often stressful diagnostic and therapeutic journeys.
The challenge extended beyond typical healthcare furniture needs. These behavioral health floors demanded a delicate balance between meeting strict healthcare standards for durability and cleanability while creating warm, residential-style environments that would ease anxiety for young patients. The spaces needed to accommodate diverse functions across 33,064 square feet, from diagnostic offices and group therapy rooms to family waiting areas and wellness spaces, each requiring furniture solutions that would support both clinical functionality and emotional comfort.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram developed a comprehensive furniture strategy that challenged the traditional sterile healthcare aesthetic by incorporating residential design elements in soothing color palettes. The approach centered on creating consistency across varied spaces while allowing for functional flexibility. Every office space received ergonomic Steelcase Think chairs and height-adjustable desks, with Steelcase Universal Storage systems adapted to meet specific professional needs, from manager offices to associate workstations. Comfortable Kwalu Diamante lounge chairs and loveseats in calming blue and green tones were strategically placed throughout offices and therapy areas to provide welcoming seating for families and patients.
Special attention was given to child-centered design elements that would make young patients feel comfortable and engaged. Waiting areas featured pediatric ottomans, tables, and colorful Bolia chairs in Goldfinch and Peacock that encouraged activities like reading and drawing. Wellness rooms were equipped with Nemschoff glider recliners and power-enabled tables to support extended family stays. Throughout the facility, the furniture selection prioritized healthcare-grade finishes that could withstand daily cleaning protocols while maintaining the warm, residential aesthetic that would help transform the clinical environment into a space that truly felt like home.
