Eclectic colors create a unique working environment
Understanding what drives the need for change
A leading full-service factoring company for truckers had outgrown their Fort Worth operations office and needed to relocate to a larger space that could accommodate their expanding business. The company was moving from their cramped quarters to occupy three full floors of a high-rise building in downtown Fort Worth, spanning over 65,000 square feet. The move presented both an opportunity and a challenge: they wanted to maximize their existing investment in Steelcase furniture while creating a cohesive, professional workspace that would support their growing team.
The client's primary concern was avoiding the waste and expense of purchasing entirely new furniture systems. They had quality Steelcase pieces that were still functional but needed to be reconfigured and supplemented to work effectively in the new space. The challenge was to create three floors of consistent, productive workspace that would serve different functions while maintaining a unified design aesthetic that reflected the company's professional image in the trucking industry.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram's design team developed a strategic furniture reconfiguration plan that would salvage and repurpose the client's existing Steelcase inventory while seamlessly integrating new pieces to complete the workspace. The team carefully dismantled furniture from the original location, cataloged each piece, and developed floor plans that would maximize the utility of existing assets. Each of the three floors received a consistent layout structure featuring lobbies, conference rooms, workstations, and flexible collaboration areas, ensuring operational consistency across the company's departments.
The design approach centered on creating an energizing yet professional environment through a carefully curated color palette. Bold accent colors including Blue Jay, Eggplant, Wasabi, and Tangerine were strategically deployed throughout conference rooms and collaboration spaces, with each room receiving its own color identity through coordinated wall colors and task chair selections. These vibrant tones were balanced with soft whites and grays to maintain professionalism while injecting energy into the workspace. Flexible furniture arrangements were prioritized throughout, with moveable tables, whiteboards, and modular seating that could adapt to different meeting sizes and work styles.
