The Challenge

Understanding what drives the need for change

A major insurance company faced a pivotal moment in their Phoenix operations. With over 1,000 employees scattered across multiple locations throughout the city, collaboration was fragmented and company culture was diluted. The leadership team recognized that bringing everyone under one roof would not only streamline operations but also create the unified workplace culture needed to compete for top talent in Arizona's competitive insurance market.

The challenge extended beyond simple consolidation. This 150,000 square-foot regional headquarters needed to embody the company's forward-thinking approach while supporting their dynamic work initiatives. The space had to function as more than just an office—it needed to serve as a talent magnet that would help attract and retain the skilled professionals essential to their growth strategy. With three floors of custom-built space to furnish, every decision would impact how more than a thousand employees experienced their workday.

Our Approach

How we brought the vision to life

Tangram approached this workspace transformation as a design partnership, working closely with the project team to understand both the architectural vision and the human dynamics at play. Rather than simply filling the space with furniture, we focused on creating an ecosystem of thoughtfully curated solutions that would enhance the custom-built environment. Each of the 1,100 workstations was selected for its ergonomic benefits and sleek aesthetic, ensuring employee comfort while maintaining the sophisticated visual language throughout the space.

Our process extended beyond individual workstations to encompass the full employee experience. We designed comprehensive furniture solutions for specialized areas including training centers where new hires would form their first impressions of company culture, and cafeteria spaces where informal collaboration and relationship-building would naturally occur. Every piece was chosen to complement rather than compete with the architectural elements, creating a cohesive environment that felt intentionally designed rather than simply furnished.
