Murad
The clean, modernist design creates a beautiful backdrop to the color-coded branding of the skincare company.
Understanding what drives the need for change
When Murad, the pioneering skincare company, decided to relocate their headquarters to El Segundo, they faced a unique design challenge that went far beyond creating another corporate office. The company's philosophy of Inclusive Health—integrating topical care, internal care, and emotional care—needed to be woven into the very fabric of their new 41,500 square foot workspace.
Murad's leadership understood that their office environment should reflect and reinforce their brand's commitment to holistic wellness. They needed a space that would not only showcase their clean, modernist aesthetic and signature color-coded branding, but also encourage employees to live the Inclusive Health lifestyle they promoted to customers. The challenge was creating an environment where wellness wasn't an afterthought, but the driving force behind every design decision.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram's design team developed an innovative cellular concept that placed wellness at the heart of the workspace. Rather than designing separate zones for work and health, they created an integrated environment where movement and collaboration naturally intersected. The centerpiece became a central meeting and spa element, surrounded by a continuous walking track that encouraged employees to stay active throughout their day.
The genius of the design lay in its multi-functional approach. Fitness equipment wasn't relegated to a separate gym—instead, these wellness stations were strategically positioned along the walking track to serve as informal meeting nodes. This purposeful placement meant that health and collaboration became seamlessly integrated into the daily workflow. The clean, modernist aesthetic provided the perfect canvas for Murad's vibrant color-coded branding, creating visual connections between the company's products and their workspace philosophy. Every design choice reinforced the message that true wellness happens when physical activity, mental engagement, and emotional well-being work together.
