Understanding what drives the need for change
When Procore, a leading construction technology company, relocated their headquarters to Carpinteria, California, they faced a unique design challenge. As a company that connects construction professionals through cloud-based applications, their new workspace needed to authentically reflect the industry they serve while supporting their rapid growth trajectory. The existing space required a complete furniture solution that would honor their visual brand standards and create an environment where their team could thrive.
The challenge went beyond aesthetics. Procore needed furniture that would embody the raw, honest materials of construction while providing the flexibility and functionality demanded by a modern tech company. Their workspace had to feel authentic to the construction industry without sacrificing the collaborative, innovative spirit that drives their cloud-based platform. Most importantly, the design needed to establish a foundation that could scale with their expanding team and growing client base.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram Studio partnered closely with architecture firm HLW and the Procore team to create a furniture solution that would genuinely represent the construction industry they serve. The design approach centered on celebrating raw materials and honest construction techniques, translating the authenticity of job sites into a sophisticated office environment.
The team developed custom height-adjustable workstations featuring matte black laminate tabletops with deliberately exposed multi-ply edges, supported by powder-coated steel legs that referenced industrial construction. Free-standing acoustic panels in classic gray provided privacy while maintaining the clean industrial aesthetic. Conference tables incorporated wood laminate with exposed edges and a signature orange divider stripe, directly connecting to Procore's brand identity. The tables featured integrated power solutions and C-channel steel legs that echoed the workstation design. Hot rolled steel credenzas served as both functional storage and a direct nod to the raw materials that define construction sites, creating an authentic connection between the company's digital solutions and the physical world they support.
