Prosper ISD – Rockhill High School
Flexibility and durability are at the forefront for this high school's classroom, lounge, study, admin, cafeteria and library spaces.
Understanding what drives the need for change
When Tangram was selected to furnish the new Rockhill High School in Frisco, Texas, the team faced the monumental task of creating learning environments across 600,000 square feet of educational space. This public high school serves students from three communities—Frisco, Prosper, and McKinney—requiring spaces that could adapt to diverse learning styles and evolving educational needs. The challenge extended beyond mere furniture selection to creating environments that would remain functional and relevant as teaching methods and student requirements changed over time.
The two-story campus demanded a comprehensive approach that would address multiple zones including traditional classrooms, science laboratories, library spaces, common areas, cafeterias, and administrative offices. Each area required different functionality while maintaining visual cohesion throughout the building. The installation needed to be completed in three carefully orchestrated phases to ensure the school could open on schedule, adding complexity to an already ambitious project scope.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram developed a strategic three-phase installation plan that prioritized flexibility and durability without sacrificing aesthetic appeal. The team curated multiple furniture lines to address the specific needs of each learning environment while ensuring overall campus cohesion. For common areas and hallway reading nooks, they selected KI MyWay Lounge Seating alongside Steelcase Turnstone Buoy chairs to offer students both comfort and interactive seating options.
The approach emphasized modular solutions throughout the campus. Steelcase Brody pods were strategically placed in library and quiet study areas, featuring privacy screens, comfortable lounge chairs, and adjustable tables that could transform underutilized spaces into focused learning environments. In traditional classrooms, the team paired Steelcase Shortcut chairs with mobile Verb Tables, enabling quick transitions between lecture, discussion, and project work. Science laboratories received special attention with durable Smith System Interchangeable Science Tables that maintained functionality while preserving the campus's sleek aesthetic. This comprehensive strategy ensured that every piece of furniture could adapt to changing educational needs while reflecting the school's branding and identity.
