Understanding what drives the need for change
When global advertising powerhouse Saatchi & Saatchi decided to establish their Dallas presence, they faced a unique opportunity. Following their major automotive client Toyota to Texas, the agency needed to create a workspace that would house not just one, but three distinct companies across 50,000 square feet in the prestigious McKinney & Olive tower. The challenge went beyond simply fitting teams into a space—they needed an environment that would embody their cool, vintage, and eclectic brand identity while fostering the creative collaboration that drives great advertising campaigns.
The agency's leadership understood that their new Dallas office would be more than just a satellite location. With over 6,500 employees across 67 countries, Saatchi & Saatchi needed this space to reflect their global creative culture while serving the practical needs of three separate teams working under one roof. The workspace had to be both functionally diverse and aesthetically cohesive, supporting everything from intimate brainstorming sessions to large-scale client presentations.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram's design partnership with Loescher Meachem Architects began with a bold conceptual leap—reimagining the traditional office workstation through the lens of a Chinese dim sum table. This wasn't just aesthetic inspiration; it was a functional philosophy. The round tables naturally eliminated the hierarchical barriers and sightline obstructions common in linear desk arrangements, creating an environment where ideas could flow as freely as conversation around a family dinner table.
Each custom workstation was engineered as a multi-functional collaboration hub, accommodating up to six people with integrated power and data management cleverly concealed beneath the surface. The raised center tier, inspired by the rotating disc of an authentic dim sum table, provided space for decorative elements while maintaining the clean, uncluttered aesthetic essential to creative work. Throughout the space, Tangram wove together residential warmth with commercial functionality, incorporating custom wallpaper, carefully curated vintage pieces, and modern design elements to create an atmosphere that felt both professional and authentically Saatchi & Saatchi.
