Service Titan
The office has evolved as the employee base has grown. Each department has its own needs. Some groups talk on the phone, others prefer private areas, some want dark, some like light. We needed to find a balance, while growing very rapidly.
Understanding what drives the need for change
ServiceTitan had a remarkable problem: success was outpacing their space. The software company that revolutionized how HVAC, plumbing, and electrical businesses operate had exploded from 40 employees to over 550 in just four years at their Glendale headquarters, with 75 more positions to fill. Their rocket-ship growth created a workspace crisis that demanded immediate attention.
The existing open office wasn't keeping pace with their dynamic culture. Employees who took pride in supporting tradespeople's livelihoods found themselves struggling with noise distractions, lack of privacy for calls, and insufficient quiet zones for focused work. As Senior Manager Kristine Nguyen explained, the team's energy and dedication to their mission deserved a workspace that matched their intensity. Staff feedback revealed four critical needs: more quiet rooms, independent work areas, visual uniformity throughout the space, and flexibility to choose how and where they worked best.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram partnered with Harley Ellis Devereaux to create a comprehensive workspace transformation that honored ServiceTitan's rapid-fire culture while addressing their practical needs. The design philosophy centered on purposeful placement—every piece of furniture needed to clearly belong where it was positioned, creating both visual harmony and functional clarity that would support facilities management as the company continued growing.
The solution balanced collaboration with concentration through strategic zoning. Flexible workstations featuring Migration height-adjustable desks and Answer Fence space division gave employees control over their immediate environment. Steelcase Brody WorkLounges carved out semi-private havens for focused work, while Framery soundproof pods eliminated phone call disruptions. Acoustic treatments in conference rooms and Spacestor Railway Carriage modules in the café created additional layers of choice, ensuring employees could find the right setting for any type of work while maintaining the cohesive, uniform aesthetic the team had requested.
