The Challenge

Understanding what drives the need for change

When Too Faced Cosmetics needed a new headquarters that would embody their playful, unapologetically feminine brand, they faced an unusual starting point: a former DMV building in Irvine. The cosmetics company, founded by Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson as a rebellion against the dark, grunge aesthetics of the 90s, needed their 60,000 square foot workspace to reflect their vibrant personalities and innovative spirit. The founders had a crystal-clear vision of what they wanted: a pink and gold wonderland that would inspire creativity and perfectly capture the Too Faced brand essence.

The challenge wasn't just about creating a beautiful space—it was about transforming a sterile government facility into a dynamic creative environment that would energize their team while staying true to the brand's bold aesthetic. The founders knew exactly what they envisioned: rows of pink and gold workstations, custom details throughout, and a space that would make every employee feel like they were part of something magical. Finding a design partner who could execute this ambitious vision without compromising on functionality or quality would be crucial to the project's success.

Our Approach

How we brought the vision to life

Tangram Interiors and Tangram Studio formed a collaborative partnership with Too Faced's internal design team and Gensler OC to bring this bold vision to reality. Mary Moen, leading the project for Tangram Studio, worked closely with the founders to understand their specific needs and translate their creative vision into functional workspace solutions. The team developed an innovative approach to custom workstations, modifying countertops built by DBAC and enhancing them with custom tack panels and wall-mounted storage in three specially developed powder-coated pink shades.

Attention to detail became paramount as the team carried the feminine theme throughout the space. Gold fishnet and solid gold 3form sliding doors added glamorous accents to storage areas, while over 20 private offices received custom desks with distinctive scalloped edge details and open loop gold frames. For the founders themselves, the team created a show-stopping marble-top desk featuring a custom laser-cut 'TF' logo insert. Alyssa Armesto and the Tangram Interiors team completed the design by specifying custom pink Sit On It 'Wit' chairs that perfectly complemented the overall aesthetic, ensuring every element worked together to create a cohesive and inspiring environment.
