Understanding what drives the need for change
Willkie Farr & Gallagher’s first Los Angeles office represented a major opportunity to redefine what a law firm workplace could be. Spanning 80,000 square feet, the space needed to break away from traditional, rigid legal office environments.
The firm’s previous setup relied on large, fixed desks and conventional layouts, which limited flexibility and collaboration. For this new office, the goal was to create a workplace that felt elevated, unique, and highly collaborative—a space that could attract top talent and serve as a destination for employees.
At the same time, the design needed to balance the expectations of a high-performing legal environment with a more modern, hospitality-driven experience. The space had to seamlessly integrate private offices, shared environments, and social spaces—while aligning with Gensler Los Angeles’ vision of a wellness-focused, tech-forward workplace.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram partnered with Gensler Los Angeles and Willkie Farr & Gallagher to deliver a comprehensive, full-floor furniture solution that supports both performance and experience across the entire office.
Our approach centered on elevating the traditional law office through a curated mix of high-end, design-forward furniture and flexible workplace solutions. Private offices were outfitted with Steelcase Mackinac glass-top desks and Elective Elements casegoods, creating a refined, modern aesthetic while maintaining the functionality required for focused legal work.
Custom Studio Other workstations were introduced to replace the firm’s previous oversized desks, optimizing space while supporting a more agile and efficient workstyle. Across meeting rooms and shared spaces, premium furnishings from Halcon and Nucraft provide sophisticated, high-performance solutions for collaboration and client engagement.
To bring warmth and a hospitality-driven feel to the workplace, we layered in residential-inspired pieces from BoConcept, Gubi, Bernhardt, Viccarbe, and West Elm. These selections activate lounge areas, informal meeting zones, and social spaces—creating a more approachable and engaging environment.
A standout feature of the project is the central community space connecting both office floors, designed as a hub for interaction, collaboration, and connection. This space embodies the firm’s shift toward a more open, people-centered workplace.
Our team ensured a seamless installation across all environments, delivering a cohesive, elevated workplace experience from private offices to shared amenities.
