Tangram 10

Meet Katrin Tucker

Please join us in welcoming Katrin Tucker to Tangram! She is joining the Dallas team as a Designer, bringing experience from her last role as a PM at an architecture firm. When she's not in the office, you can find Katrin enjoying White Rock Lake or volunteering at an animal shelter. We are thrilled to have you here at Tangram!

1. First, what is your name and job title?

Katrin Tucker, Designer

2. Where is your hometown and where do you live now?

I was born in Mobile, AL and currently live in Dallas, TX.

3. What type of company did you work at previously and what was your role there?

Previously I worked as a Project Manager within an Interior Design and Architecture Firm that works heavily in the workplace space.

4. What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?

I would typically be out at White Rock Lake (running, walking, paddle boarding or cycling) or over at Dallas Animal Services running high-energy pups or taking them out on the town for Doggie Daycations!

5. When people visit your town, what are the top local spot(s) you recommend to them?

Great question! Just a few- Dallas Arboretum, DMA, Nasher, Northpark Center, Cedar Ridge Preserve, Garden Cafe, Celestial Beerworks, Kalachandji Temple & Restaurant, Killer Joe Coffee, Lakewood Landing

6. What's a topic you wish you knew more about or a skill you want to learn/improve?

I wish I knew more about pottery or how to play the piano. I've always loved collecting unique ceramic pieces and listening to piano music but would love to learn more about either!

7. Tell us about the best or most memorable meal you've cooked or eaten! What made it special?

I enjoy trying new foods but I'm not an expert in the kitchen. One memory that pops up is from a work trip several years ago that took me to Neiman Marcus San Francisco...and of course we stayed for lunch at The Rotunda. Between the chicken consume, popover with strawberry butter, lobster bisque and more, it was the experience of getting to dine under the massive, magical stained glass dome that was so impactful. Feeling the history behind this preserved portion of the building (originally built as the City of Paris in 1896) was exciting to the design nerd that I am.

8. What is your favorite memory from the past year?

Last year I made the solo drive out to Marfa, Texas stayed in a converted Texaco Station built in 1955 and experienced all things Donald Judd, Dan Flavin & friends, great hiking, and good food but my favorite memory was traveling up the Davis Mountains to the McDonald Observatory participating in a Special Viewing Night with one of the largest telescopes in the world and then spending the night at the Astronomer's Lodge. The views...simply stunning! 15/10 recommend

9. Show us your true colors! Which professional and/or college team(s) do you cheer for?

Push comes to shove, I will cheer for the Florida Gators because my father played football for them back in the Gatorade development era. I'm more of a swimming and tennis fan.

10. What are you most looking forward to at Tangram and what do you hope to bring to the team?

I look forward to experiencing the Design Industry through a different lens and learning so much from others on the team! I hope to bring my love of space planning, spirit of collaboration and sense of curiosity.
