# Tangram Takes Home REmmy Award for Headquarters Innovation
Tangram has earned recognition from the commercial real estate industry's most prestigious awards program, taking home the 2016 REmmy Award for Most Innovative Project under 50,000 square feet. The honor celebrates our Santa Fe Springs headquarters remodel—a project that demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform both workspace functionality and company culture.
## Recognition from Industry Leaders
The REmmy Awards, organized annually by CoreNet, spotlight exceptional achievements in commercial real estate. This recognition validates our approach to creating workspaces that serve multiple purposes: inspiring employees, showcasing capabilities, and reflecting brand values.
Completed in April 2016, the headquarters renovation was a true collaboration between Tangram, MOZU, and Holwick Constructors. The result is a space that functions as both our operational hub and a living showroom for the diverse markets we serve.
## Design Inspired by Southern California Living
Susie Tashiro of MOZU articulated the design philosophy behind the project: "Tangram serves Southern California, and the main design concept captures the duality of our vibrant landscape. We're famous for sunny weather and dramatic coastlines, but we're also a community that enjoys the outdoors as much as the indoors."
This inspiration translated into a workspace that reflects the unique lifestyle possible in our region—surrounded by beaches, mountains, lakes, and deserts. The design balances the energy and color of our natural environment with the sophisticated functionality required for modern commercial work.
## A Physical Representation of Our Brand
**"Now when people ask, 'What is Tangram?', we can actually show them,"** explains Nick Meter, who led the project for Tangram. **"This space is a Tangram—puzzle pieces in the form of business units, clients, vendors, and employees, fitting together to create something beautiful."**
The headquarters showcases products from leading manufacturers including: - Steelcase furniture systems - Buzzispace acoustic solutions - Vitra design pieces - Custom workstations from Tangram Studio
Our integrated approach extended to every detail. Tangram Flooring sourced and installed all flooring applications, while Tangram Technology handled the complete A/V systems integration.
## Measuring Success Through Culture Integration
At Tangram, we measure project success by how well a client's culture, brand, and values integrate into their daily work experience. In our own headquarters, this integration isn't just present—it's unmistakable.
The space clearly represents our brand through the carefully selected products, the people who work here, and the energy that flows throughout the building. It serves as proof of concept for potential clients while creating an environment where our team can do their best work.
## Workplace Trends in Action
As specialists in commercial interiors, we needed a space that incorporated the most current workplace trends. The headquarters demonstrates how traditional office concepts can evolve to support collaboration, flexibility, and employee wellbeing.
The project shows how commercial spaces can serve multiple functions: operational efficiency, brand expression, client showcase, and employee inspiration. This multi-layered approach reflects the complex needs of today's commercial real estate market.
## Looking Forward
This recognition reinforces our commitment to innovative design solutions that solve real business challenges. The award validates our belief that exceptional commercial interiors result from understanding both the functional needs and the cultural aspirations of the organizations we serve.
Our headquarters stands as a testament to what's possible when design thinking, collaborative partnerships, and deep market knowledge come together in service of creating spaces where people and businesses thrive.
