Tangram 10

Tangram Ten // Alison Hickman

Please join us in welcoming Alison Hickman to Tangram! Alison is joining the team as the Regional Manager for our Bakersfield office. For the past seven years, she has owned her own interior, event and floral business. One would think running your own business would be challenging enough, but she is also raising five sons—officially making her Mom of the Year. Beyond her children, she’s a big fan of grilled cheese, candied bacon and Brad Pitt. We are thrilled for her dedication, creativity and hard work to do amazing things in Bakersfield. Welcome, Alison, we’re happy to have you!

1. Name, title?

Alison Hickman, Regional Manager, Bakersfield

2. Where is your hometown?

Bakersfield, CA

3. What type of company did you work at previously and what was your role there?

I owned my own Interior, Event, and Floral Design business for the last 7 years.

4. What is something you recently crossed off your bucket list?

I can’t say that I have a bucket list but, having had  a successful business and now moving into a new position with Tangram, both are  things I’m proud to have accomplished.

5. How would you describe your favorite food to someone who’s never had it before?

That’s a tough one! I love food! I always say I like gourmet children’s foods, like fancy grilled cheese or sandwiches. My absolute favorite though is a family recipe for candied bacon!! It’s everything salty and sweet and also “bacony” that you can imagine. Brown sugar caramelizes over the bacon and it melts in your mouth! Bacon is also my favorite midnight snack!!

6. If you could have lunch with someone famous (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

I should probably say someone smart or historical but, I think I’d like to have lunch with Brad Pitt. He’s just a good looking guy!

7. What are you most looking forward to in your new role at Tangram?

So many things! I’m so excited to work towards bringing all of the great things Tangram is doing in other markets to Bakersfield! In my previous role it was always so rewarding to see how a well designed space functions and affects people. I’m looking forward to learning all that Tangram has to offer and can offer to the Bakersfield community.

8. What is the bravest thing you’ve ever done?

I’m not sure about the bravest but, I do have 5 children, all boys! So that requires some daily bravery! Really I just do what I need to do in most situations; it might appear brave to others.

9. How many donuts are you capable of eating in one sitting?

Technically I’m not supposed to eat doughnuts as I have celiac disease and type 1 diabetes. I do however love an occasional blueberry cake doughnut and all the sugar and gluten that goes with it!

10. What do you hope to bring to the Tangram team?

I hope to bring dedication to success through creativity and hard work! I’m excited to lead the Bakersfield team and discover new possibilities in that market.
