Tangram Ten // Daryl Nishimiya

Please join us in welcoming Daryl Nishimiya to Tangram! Daryl will be joining the Technology Team as a Sales Executive after 25 years of sales engineering and management experience within the A/V industry. Though his childhood dream of becoming a fireman was cut short, Daryl still met his potential working for the largest microphone and headphone manufacturer in the world. His experience and skills will be a great asset to the Technology Team. Not to mention, he’s an avid traveler and loves pizza. Welcome to the Family, Daryl, we’re happy to have you!

1. Name, title?

Daryl Nishimiya, Sales Executive for Tangram Technology

2. Where is your hometown?

I currently live in Redondo Beach but grew up in Hawaii.  Yes, I know…

3. What type of company did you work at previously and what was your role there?

I worked for Sennheiser, one of the largest microphone and headphone manufacturers in the world (the microphone of choice for Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, and others).  At first, I covered a three-state region (California, Nevada and Hawaii) for Professional Audio (microphones, headphones, assisted listening) products but eventually moved over as a Field Sales Engineer for their Unified Communications division (headsets).

4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you did?

Finish my bucket list – I’ve been to 5 continents and I need to visit Africa and Antarctica to complete all 7 continents.

5. If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?

Dog, based on the cushy life my dog experiences every day.

6. If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Pizza.  You can be as plain or as creative as you want with pizza.

7. What are you most looking forward to in your new role at Tangram?

The best thing about audio visual is going into an unknown environment, finding out what their needs, pains, and visions are, and figuring out how to make it happen.  I’m looking forward to doing more problem solving and being creative.

8. What was your dream job growing up?

Fireman.  To my mom’s dismay, I would start small fires and put them out with the garden hose.  When I discovered gasoline, that dream came to a sudden, enforced end.

9. Which emoji do you use the most?

Maybe I’m old, but I don’t think I’ve used an emoji in over 20 years.

10. What do you hope to bring to the Tangram team?

I have a lot of passion for problem solving and coming up with solutions, so I hope to use that passion to grow Tangram Technology and also assist Tangram team members (furniture, walls, and flooring) with projects they need assistance with.
