## Welcoming Our Newest Team Member: Kaycee Sexaur
We're excited to introduce Kaycee Sexaur, who's joining our Fresno office as a Sales & Design Support Intern. This marks an important milestone for both Kaycee and our team—it's her first internship, and we couldn't be more thrilled to be part of her professional journey.
### From Restaurants to Commercial Design
Kaycee brings a unique perspective to our team. The Clovis native has been working in the restaurant industry since age 17, starting at IHOP and currently serving at Black Angus Steakhouse. While hospitality and commercial furniture might seem worlds apart, the customer service skills and attention to detail she's developed will translate beautifully to our industry.
Currently studying Design at Fresno State, Kaycee is eager to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application. As she puts it, "The knowledge gained from taking design courses is not equivalent to the hands-on experience you obtain from working closely with professionals."
### A Journey to Design
Like many of us in the design world, Kaycee's path wasn't always clear. Growing up, she wanted to follow in her teacher mother's footsteps. High school brought exploration into law, forensics, and psychology, but none felt quite right. It wasn't until college that design captured her heart—and now she can't imagine doing anything else.
This evolution resonates with many professionals in our field. Commercial design often attracts people who've explored other paths, bringing diverse experiences that enrich our industry perspectives.
### What She Brings to the Table
Kaycee describes herself as extremely organized and eager to learn—qualities that are invaluable in commercial furniture and design. Her goal is simple but powerful: to be someone Tangram can always count on to get the job done.
Her enthusiasm for hands-on learning aligns perfectly with our mentorship approach. For established professionals reading this, Kaycee's eagerness serves as a reminder of why investing in interns and junior team members benefits everyone. Fresh perspectives often lead to innovative solutions.
### Beyond the Office
What makes Kaycee tick outside of work? She's a self-proclaimed sushi aficionado who could happily eat it three times a day, a dog enthusiast, and someone who values laughter above all else. Her most frequent emoji? The laughing face, naturally.
When asked about winning the lottery, her answer reveals her character: she'd buy and design a tiny home for her parents, something they've talked about for years. It's a response that speaks to both her design passion and her generous spirit.
### The Value of Internships in Commercial Design
Kaycee's arrival reminds us why internship programs matter in our industry. Commercial design requires understanding client needs, product specifications, project timelines, and vendor relationships—knowledge that's best gained through mentorship and real project experience.
For design firms considering internship programs, remember that fresh talent brings energy, current academic perspectives, and digital fluency that can enhance your team dynamics. For students like Kaycee, internships provide the crucial bridge between educational theory and professional practice.
### Looking Ahead
As Kaycee settles into her role, we're excited to watch her grow and contribute to our Fresno team. Her combination of service industry experience, design education, and genuine enthusiasm positions her well for success in commercial furniture and design.
To fellow design professionals: remember that investing in emerging talent isn't just good for business—it's essential for our industry's future. Welcome to the team, Kaycee. We're looking forward to learning alongside you.
