They envisioned their new nine-level Los Angeles headquarters as a place where employees would naturally gravitate toward each other, where spontaneous conversations would spark new ideas, and where the physical environment would embody their values of warmth and hospitality.
How we brought the vision to life
Understanding the human dynamics at play, Tangram designed around what we call 'strategic moments'—those crucial instances when recreation, socialization, and meaningful work intersect. Rather than creating vast open plains of desks, we wove together flexible work areas with thoughtfully placed retreat spaces. The hexagonal Steelcase workstation system became our foundation, chosen specifically for its adaptability to support the ebb and flow of team-based projects.
The real artistry lay in the details that transformed corporate into comfortable. Bronze and brass accents caught and reflected light throughout the space, while rich wood casework added warmth that invited touch. We strategically positioned oversized sofas and lounge chairs throughout work areas—pieces that belonged as much in a luxury hotel as they did in this tech headquarters. Meeting rooms, individual phone booths, and breakout areas were carefully distributed across each floor plate, creating natural boundaries that supported focused small-group work while maintaining the open, connected feel the client desired.
