Understanding what drives the need for change
When Orgain, the organic nutrition company, outgrew their traditional office space, CEO Dr. Andrew Abraham had a clear vision: create a workplace that truly embodied their commitment to health and wellness. The company needed a 25,000-square-foot headquarters in Irvine that would serve as more than just an office—it needed to be a living representation of Orgain's mission to promote wholesome, vibrant lives. The challenge was complex: design eight distinct functional areas that could accommodate everything from focused work to product testing, recreation, and collaboration, all while maintaining the brand's energetic personality.
The new space had to strike a delicate balance between professional functionality and the playful, health-conscious culture that defined Orgain. With colorful murals and biophilic elements already planned for the architecture, the furniture selections needed to complement this vibrant backdrop without overwhelming it. Most importantly, every piece had to support employee wellness and foster the kind of creative collaboration that drives innovation in the competitive nutrition industry.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram's design partnership with H Hendy Associates began with understanding how Orgain's employees actually work and play. The team developed a comprehensive furniture strategy that celebrated the brand's signature green while introducing unexpected elements of joy and movement throughout the space. In the open work areas, they specified height-adjustable Steelcase Migration and Bivi workstations with custom green panels, paired with ergonomic SitOnIt task chairs to create an agile environment that promoted both collaboration and focused work.
The real magic happened in the details that brought Orgain's personality to life. Tangram introduced statement pieces like the Duffy London Swing Table as a visual centerpiece that challenged traditional conference room expectations. In the game lounge, they curated an eclectic mix of organically shaped, colorful seating that invited creativity and relaxation. Meanwhile, enclosed meeting spaces featured neutral, calming furniture to provide contrast to the building's bold artistic elements, with unique touches like hanging swing chairs that encouraged innovative thinking. Each space received careful attention to ensure furniture supported its specific function while contributing to the overall narrative of wellness and vitality.
