For nearly seven decades, Signature Travel Network has been the trusted partner for the travel industry's most successful retailers, from boutique specialists to major multi-location organizations. But their previous El Segundo office told a different story than their collaborative mission. High-paneled workstations created isolated islands where employees worked in disconnection, while fixed-height desks offered no flexibility for wellness or comfort. The space felt closed off and dark, hampering the kind of innovative thinking and seamless collaboration that their diverse client base deserved.
The leadership team recognized that their physical environment needed to match their forward-thinking approach to travel retail. They envisioned a transformation that would create a light-filled, open workspace where their 35-person team could thrive. The goal wasn't just aesthetic—they wanted height-adjustable workstations that promoted employee wellness and an open floor plan that would foster the collaborative spirit that had driven their success since 1956.
How we brought the vision to life
Working alongside Transition State Design House and Kazoni Construction, Tangram approached this workspace transformation with a focus on balancing openness with purposeful privacy. We understood that while Signature Travel Network wanted to break down barriers, their team still needed focused work environments and ample meeting spaces to serve their diverse clientele effectively.
Our design solution centered on 32 Steelcase Ology height-adjustable desks paired with ergonomic 9to5 Seating Cydia Mesh task chairs, giving every employee the wellness benefits of adjustable workstations. To maintain the open feel while providing necessary privacy, we incorporated Steelcase Answer Fence desk barriers—creating visual boundaries without recreating the isolation of their previous space. Recognizing their meeting-intensive business model, we equipped their training room and three conference rooms with OFS Eleven Wood Conference tables, comfortable Woodstock Joplin chairs, and universal storage solutions that would support everything from intimate client consultations to company-wide training sessions.
