Understanding what drives the need for change
When Swing Set Productions decided to relocate to Long Beach, they faced a unique design challenge that went far beyond typical office furnishing. As a video production company working with high-profile clients like Maserati and Post Malone, their new 8,000 square foot space needed to serve dual purposes: function as a sophisticated creative workspace for their team while also impressing clients who would spend extended time in the facility during working sessions.
The space needed to accommodate nine distinct zones, each with specific technical and aesthetic requirements. From podcast rooms requiring acoustic precision to edit bays demanding complex technology integration, every area had to reflect Swing Set's brand while maintaining the comfort and visual appeal that would keep celebrity clients at ease during long recording and editing sessions. The challenge was creating a cohesive environment that balanced cutting-edge functionality with the luxurious aesthetics befitting their clientele.
How we brought the vision to life
Tangram partnered with Studio Other to develop a comprehensive design strategy that prioritized both form and function across every zone. The team began by understanding Swing Set's unique workflow requirements and client expectations, then curated a sophisticated furniture palette from multiple manufacturers to achieve unmatched aesthetic cohesion throughout the space. Special attention was paid to comfort and visual appeal, recognizing that clients would be spending hours in these environments.
The most critical element was the custom fabrication work led by Studio Other. Five unique mixing desks were engineered specifically for the editing bay, each designed to accommodate complex audio-visual technology while maintaining ergonomic excellence through multi-ply surfaces with soft eased edges. The desks featured curved rolled steel end panels and vintage amplifier-inspired storage cabinets that tied directly into the space's overall architectural theme. Similarly, a striking wave-shaped steel reception desk was crafted to create an immediate visual impact while complementing the creative atmosphere. Throughout the process, Swing Set remained deeply engaged in the design development, ensuring each custom piece would deliver both the functionality their technical work demanded and the aesthetic impact their brand required.

Field Lounge Chair
Field Lounge Chair gave us a good feeling right from the start. Our goal was to design a chair you could really sink into. Something big, plush and super comfortable. That meant arms were a must. The trick was finding a way to make them feel like part of the form, instead of a separate element, which tends to take the chair into mid-century territory. We shaped the arms and body to work as one, which defined the silhouette, while keeping it simple and sculptural. Then we topped it with sumptuous upholstered cushions to up the comfort quotient. Finally, we propped it on a powder-coated steel base that attaches in the center, making Field appear to almost float. The result is one of our most comfortable (and beautiful) chairs. Not to mention, winner of the Best Lounge Chair of the Year from Interior Design Magazine. NBD.
Wallace Sofa
The Wallace Sofa is a modern reinterpretation of the classic English Chesterfield design. The channel-stitched leather upholstery on the seat, back, and arms creates a surface that is both visually striking and remarkably comfortable. Piping details, sloping armrests and an angular wooden base add sculptural, contemporary flair, while luxurious channeled padding make it perfect for lounging. Available in three vintage leathers, chosen for their unique grain characteristics that will age beautifully and develop a rich natural patina over time.
