The Challenge

Understanding what drives the need for change

The Trade Desk faced a pivotal moment in their growth story. As one of the world's leading advertising technology companies, they needed to establish their Pacific Northwest presence with a workplace that would draw employees back to the office in the evolving hybrid work landscape. The challenge was complex: create a 46,000 square foot Bellevue office across two floors that would serve as a magnet for talent while maintaining brand consistency across their national footprint.

The company's vision was ambitious yet human-centered. Every one of their 230 employees needed a dedicated workstation to foster ownership and comfort, while generous collaborative spaces would support their innovation-driven culture. The project carried additional pressure with an aggressive six-week delivery timeline, requiring seamless coordination and flawless execution. Most importantly, the space needed to reflect both The Trade Desk's forward-thinking identity and the unique character of the Pacific Northwest, creating a workplace that employees would choose over remote work.

Our Approach

How we brought the vision to life

Tangram approached this workspace transformation as a careful balance between consistency and regional identity. Our design partnership centered on creating purposeful spaces that would function seamlessly for employees commuting three to four days per week. We developed a comprehensive furniture solution that addressed every aspect of the modern workplace, from individual focus areas to spontaneous collaboration zones.

The heart of our approach involved strategic space planning that prioritized both functionality and flexibility. We furnished 230 ergonomic workstations that met The Trade Desk's national standards while incorporating dynamic elements like Orangebox Campers and Dens for informal gatherings, and Steelcase Ocular Tables with writable surfaces for visual ideation. Social hubs were designed with café-style furnishings to support the company's hospitality-driven amenities, while wellness-focused spaces like mother's rooms demonstrated our commitment to holistic employee support. The crowning element was a custom Isomi reception desk that served as both a sculptural statement and a reflection of the earthy, Pacific Northwest aesthetic, creating an immediate sense of place and brand identity.
