Understanding what drives the need for change
When Tangram decided to establish their Fresno showroom, they faced the unique opportunity to create a space that would serve dual purposes: showcasing their design capabilities to Central Valley clients while providing a functional workspace for their growing local team. The challenge was particularly meaningful for Vice President Alyssa Armesto, a Fresno native who understood the importance of honoring the region's rich agricultural heritage and natural beauty. The Central Valley's landscape—from the Sierra Nevada mountains to vast almond orchards—needed to be authentically woven into a sophisticated commercial space that would inspire clients while supporting the daily needs of Tangram's staff.
The team knew that simply creating another corporate showroom wouldn't suffice. They needed to demonstrate their commitment to the local community while proving that exceptional design could emerge from understanding and celebrating a place's unique character. The 6,500-square-foot space had to accommodate everything from intimate client consultations to large team meetings, all while serving as a living example of how thoughtful design can transform any workspace into something extraordinary.
How we brought the vision to life
Chief Administrative Officer Denyse Sharp and the design team embarked on a deeply research-driven process, immersing themselves in Fresno's natural and cultural landscape. Working with architect Susie Tashiro from MOZU and interior designer Samantha East, they developed a design language that would authentically capture the abundance of the Central Valley. Every material choice, from warm wood tones to carefully selected textures, was intentional—creating a sensory experience that visitors could immediately connect to their own sense of place.
The team's commitment to authenticity extended beyond aesthetics to sourcing and partnerships. They collaborated with Old Town Clovis antique shops for unique accessories and commissioned local artist Elizabeth Saltos to create an oil painting of Yosemite. Lighting became a storytelling element, with Tom Dixon Melt pendants in the main conference room evoking the essence of Shaver Lake's bubbling waters, while a Greenmood Preserved Plant wall with firefly lights paid homage to Sequoia National Park's bioluminescent millipedes. The space seamlessly integrated cutting-edge technology throughout to support hybrid work, while Tangram Falkbuilt's digital construction methods were used for select private offices, demonstrating the company's innovation capabilities.
